So as in your example, the audio bus "Kickstarter" would not show in the list of possible outputs for the "midi to kickstarter" track. I made an audio track and effectively made it into a bus by sending certain track outputs to it and switching the signal to "input." My problem right now is that the bus does not show in the list of outputs for the MIDI track. I went through my routing setup and it parallels what you posted above. Thanks so much for your help I will try it out and check back in! Inter-track routing is one of Live's great strengths. Pitch Black wrote:"Standard" audio tracks can also be used as busses in Live. Notice how in the pic below Melodyne IS available as a MIDI destination from the MIDI track, but Kickstart isn't! Boo! You'll have to set up a virtual MIDI port as described in the Kickstart Plugin window. It seems the VST version might work though. I made a mockup with the Kickstart demo and all the routing works in theory, BUT Kickstart has a quirk that doesn't allow MIDI input directly from the host app, if using the AU/Mac version. Now all your desired tracks are routed into the Kickstart track and through the Kickstart plugin, and you can create a MIDI track whose MIDI output routes to the Kickstart plugin.ĮDIT - On Mac/Audio Units: nope.
Switch the monitor setting of the Kickstart track to Input. Will this work for you? Create a new Audio Track, place Kickstart in it, then route the audio outputs of all the tracks you want to sidechain to the Kickstart track. This might be one of those times where you need to use a standard Audio Track in place of a "Return" bus. "Standard" audio tracks can also be used as busses in Live.
